  • Power, water and gas-meter are providing pulse interfaces which can be connected to a pulse-counter, totaliser or transceiver. Direct Control is using high-end Adeunis® pulse transceiver. They are ready to use radio transceiver allowing to transmit data from water, gas, electricity & heat meters. The LPWAN pulse transceiver provides connection to any operated network using the LoRaWAN or Sigfox protocol. Two meters are supported by a single Adeunis® transceiver. The configuration of the transmitter can be done via the network allowing the choice of periodicity, pulse weight or data encryption.

  • Electronic water-meter are build as an integrated meter providing more information than meter with pulse interface. The LoRaWAN transmisson unit is seperated from the meter and communicates over an infrared interface to the base meter. It has a LCD display and is protected from condensation. Flow-rate, flow-direction, leak-detection and tamper alarm are part of the LoRaWAN payload. The meter has an internal battery and one in the transmission unit. The lifespan is more than 10 years.

  • The Adeunis® ModBus LPWAN tranceiver is available as a LoRaWAN or Sigfox version. It acts as a ModBus master polling ModBus slaves according to the configuration of the receiver. The ModBus registers of a power-meter provides far more values than just energy, which is the case if pulse counting is used. Direct Control offers different single and three phase power-meters compatible to the Adeunis® ModBus LPWAN tranceiver.

The Benefits of LPWAN Technology

LPWAN is a broad term encompassing various implementations and protocols, that share common characteristics as low power and wide area. A physical limitation to achieve low power and wide range is small data size.

LPWAN technologies can only send small payloads with a relative low speed. The above characteristics make LPWAN an excellent choice for dense locations and long term monitoring. Sensors and meters can be installed and monitored over a long period of time (e.g. energy or water metering and gas detectors). Simply put, LPWAN technology works well in situations where devices need to send small data over a wide area while maintaining battery life over many years.
